Good morning, iOpeners. It's Monday, May 6, 2019.   What do you think of the new theme for "Morning Edition"?  Can you sum it up in a few words?  I'm thinking "space-age toy piano."  We're gathering your thoughts through our Listener Contribution line at 216-916-6476 or on Facebook.

A Bratenahl police officer is recovering after his police cruiser was struck by a car while the officer was assisting with a traffic stop on I-90 near Eddy Road Sunday.  Officer Tim O’Haire’s cruiser was rear-ended by Natisha Carter, who has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.  It’s the second time a Bratenahl officer has been hit by an impaired driver on that stretch of the interstate in the last month.

U.S. Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown urged an end to anti-semitism at an event marking the 75th anniversary of the American Jewish Committee’s Cleveland chapter.  Sen. Brown, who once considered entering the 2020 Democratic race for president, added that “all elected officials have a responsibility to call out anti-semitism from the president on down.” Both say anti-semitism is on the rise.  The Mayfield Heights event follows deadly shootings at a synagogue in San Diego less than two weeks ago and at a synagogue in Pittsburgh in October.

Cody Anderson didn’t make it out of the first inning in the Indians’ 10-0 beat down by the Seattle Mariners. Anderson allowed four runs on two hits and three walks through just two-thirds of an inning for the shortest start of his career and the first start since 2016.  The Tribe recalled Anderson from Triple-A Columbus to help in a rotation that’s missing injured starters Corey Kluber and Mike Clevinger.

The Columbus Blue Jackets face elimination tonight in Game 6 of their Stanley Cup playoff series against the Boston Bruins. The series returns to Nationwide Arena. Boston leads the series, 3-2.

Weather forecast: Spring fever will be contagious today, with plenty of sunshine and a high near 74.  Tonight, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.  Cloudy, low 48. Tomorrow, a 50 percent chance of showers.  Cloudy, cooler, high 55.
